Louisville Riverport Master Plan

Louisville Riverport Authority launched a bold effort to outline generational upgrades to the Louisville Riverport. The Master Plan is a transformational blueprint that will modernize Louisville Riverport’s infrastructure, improve resilience, support advanced industries and position Louisville for long-term economic growth.

  • The plan is supported by $1 million in federal planning funds and a $250,000 match from LRA and will redesign the existing marine terminal into a modern, resilient, low risk facility.
  • Modernization planning includes: upgraded marine terminal design, improved flood protection, enhanced rail and roadway infrastructure, sustainability features and optimized land planning.
  • The plan will identify infrastructure improvements needed to support advanced manufacturing, supply chain automation and 21st-century logistics.
  • A comprehensive community engagement process is built into the planning effort.
  • The plan helps position Riverport to compete on a regional and national level.
  • The Master Plan is led by Kentucky-based BFW Engineering.
