Community invited to help shape the future of Louisville Riverport through Master Plan process
LOUISVILLE, Ky., (October 14, 2026) – Area residents, business, and community stakeholders are invited to attend a pubic meeting on Wednesday, October 28 to learn about Louisville Riverport’s Master Planning process and provide input on its future.
One of the region’s largest industrial and logistics hubs, Louisville Riverport is home to more than 120 companies that support more than 8,000 jobs. Businesses within Louisville Riverport are estimated to generate nearly $1.2 billion in annual economic activity. The Master Plan will help guide future investments in infrastructure, transportation, and site development to ensure Louisville Riverport remains a competitive economic engine for the region.
When Louisville Riverport Authority (LRA) opened its public port in 1987, it was designed to serve the economy of its day through river, rail, and road connections. The Master Plan will identify opportunities to modernize the Riverport’s marine terminal, advance development of the 300-acre intermodal site, strengthen rail and roadway connections, improve flood resilience and prepare sites for the next generation of advanced manufacturing and river-based logistics.
In coordination with LRA, Kentucky-based BFW Engineering will host a public information meeting to introduce the Master Plan process, provide an overview of its scope and focus and gather feedback from the community. The meeting will include brief overview presentations at 5:05 and 5:45 p.m., followed by an open house format where attendees can view exhibits, talk one-on-one with members of the project team, ask questions, and share input about the Riverport’s future.
